The South New England District UPS Operations

to Receive Environmental Stewardship Award

for Its Energy Efficiency Efforts in Connecticut

Hartford Conn.—Lots of people, including President Bush and Connecticut’s Governor Rell, are talking about saving energy and weaning Americans from their dependence on foreign oil—the South New England District of UPS is doing something about it. In this day and age, with the price of a barrel of oil reaching $70 and world unrest threatening supplies, a business committed to energy efficiencies stands out in a crowd.

On Friday, April 14, the Northeast Energy Efficiency Council Connecticut Chapter honors UPS for its energy efficiency efforts by presenting the company the Environmental Stewardship Award. Companies eligible for the Environmental Stewardship Award are those that participate in the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund. Created to address Connecticut’s increasing energy needs—and rising costs—the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF) is an initiative to help homeowners and renters, small and large businesses, and state and local governments use energy more efficiently. Through UPS’s efforts, the energy reduced equates to 3,982,572 gallons of unused gas or 9,742 acres of trees saved over the lifetime of the changes made at UPS.

The press is invited to join UPS executives, the leaders of the Northeast Energy Efficiency Council, elected officials and other VIP guests at the ceremony. Here are the event details:
